Therapy and toys go together like hammer and nails. They are both tools of the trade.

Finding the right toy tool for your child depends on what motivates your child, reinforces positive behavior and engages your child in play.

The purpose behind your play might be to strengthen oral- and sensory-motor deficits, reasoning and logic or problem solving. Just remember: You don't have to be a therapist or act like one to use these ideas. Kids just want to have fun. You should, too.

Some of our ideas include: How-to Set Up a Multi-sensory Room In Your Home and Teaching Social Skills to Preschoolers.

We also have included a list of our favorite local and online toy and learning supply stores used by therapists. Use Mapquest if you need driving directions.
